Agia Zoni, the small family church in the corner
of the garden, celebrates her name day on 31st August. In honour of
the occasion, following
the traditions associated with the Greek Orthodox Church, a full service
is held. Attended by villagers and guests alike, this tradition has been
upheld by the Lazarou family since the days long before Hotel Hippocampus,
when the Lazarou family had their summer house here.
No one knows
the exact age of the original church but in 1922, it was renovated and
restored by Pavlo's grandparents. Over the years, it has witnessed
several baptisms and weddings.
